Homemade Electrolyte Drink

This simple drink is the perfect thirst-quencher after a day in the sun, after your first postpartum wine night, or as a morning rehydration (and digestion) boost!

In addition to replenishing lost electrolytes, this drink also packs a hefty vitamin C punch, which is a must-have in our household with two working parents, one kid in preschool, and a new baby. We all have to keep our immune systems in tip top shape to fight off all the many cold, flu and COVID viruses floating around these days.

My typical morning routine includes 16 ounces of plain, filtered water before I eat or drink anything else. But when I feel the need for extra hydration, vitamin C to fight off a bug or a gentle detox, I shake up this all-natural electrolyte drink a few mornings in a row until I feel rebalanced again.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)

1 pinch Celtic sea salt (regular sea salt works, too)

1 tsp raw honey

12-16 ounces filtered, room temperature water

Stir or shake it all together, then enjoy!

Want an extra detoxing and pH-balancing effect? Add 1 Tbsp raw apple cider vinegar! (if this gives you heartburn, do not continue)

Need to replenish even more electrolytes lost from sweat? Substitute half or all of the water for raw or fresh coconut water!
